Digital Health Week NZ pre-conference workshops are on 2-3 December (Monday 2 December is exhibitor pack-in). The expo hall will be open from Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 December, inclusive.

What the workshop is about
Come develop our SNOMED products with us at the SNOMED Working Bee in Hamilton on the 2nd of December as part of Digital Health Week NZ. We’ve got amazing speakers lined up:

  • Manu Sione, bringing back the much loved ePatient Iosefa from last year’s IPS-athon
  • David Hay the renowned FHIR educator to talk about the work he’s done with CanShare
  • Dr James McKelvie, ophtalmologist and software pioneer from the Waikato to talk about his gold standard implementation of SNOMED with CatTrax
  • Sam Burchell from Healthpoint to talk about the leading work they’ve been doing with SNOMED for consumer-friendly information
  • Dr Matt Valentine who is a key advocate for furthering the use of SNOMED within the NZ health sector
  • Kate Ebrill and Kylynn Loi, bringing their terminology expertise from CSIRO across the ditch.
  • Zeeman van der Merwe from ACC is going to talk about their journey so far with SNOMED and their future plans
Who is the workshop for
If you are a SNOMED beginner, have a particular interoperability problem you want solved or have clinical or technical expertise that you would like to use to develop some of our NZ standards products; we will have a space for you at the SNOMED working bee. We'll have a panel where you can ask your burning SNOMED questions. In the afternoon we are running a number of workshops where you will be able to connect with the team, our presenters and get hands-on with some of our standards products, including the NZCDI. We’d love to see you there, so bring your use cases, bring your curiosity, and join us as one of our SNOMED besties.

This year’s HL7NZ FHIR Workshop and Connectathon brings together leaders from Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora, leading software suppliers, and the standards development community in New Zealand and Australia. Keynote presentations will provide updates on the latest developments in FHIR implementation and uptake. And the Connectathon will provide hands-on learning opportunities showing how easy it is to get started with FHIR-based interoperability. Bring your laptop! No coding experience is required… we will provide you with user-friendly tools as needed.

The theme for this year is “Amplifying the nursing and midwifery voice in digital health”.

The rapidly changing landscape of digital health brings significant challenges to the nursing and midwifery workforce. Despite these challenges, nurses and midwives are often the drivers of digital innovation and digitally enabled clinical care. How can the voice of nurses and midwives as leaders in digital transformation be amplified?

Abstract submissions have closed and potential presenters have been notified. The draft programme will be released at the end of September.
