Rural Health Workforce Strategist
Jane George works at the intersection of rural health equity and workforce sustainability in Aotearoa New Zealand. With roots in social work practice and a doctorate focused on allied health recruitment and retention in rural settings, Jane brings both practical leadership experience and rigorous research to her current work. Through independent research initiatives and collaborations with universities across New Zealand and Australia, she addresses complex workforce challenges facing rural communities. Her time as Director of Allied Health for Te Tai o Poutini West Coast shaped her understanding that rural communities need health professionals who feel valued, connected, and professionally fulfilled. As a keynote speaker and strategist to rural health organisations, Jane challenges urban-centric assumptions about healthcare delivery and champions the unique strengths and opportunities of rural practice. She believes that when we get rural workforce right, we create pathways to better health outcomes for all communities, regardless of geography.
