Dr Jane George

Rural Health Workforce Strategist

In the spaces between urban centres and remote communities, Dr Jane George has spent her career building bridges. A registered social worker whose doctoral research explores how we might better support allied health professionals to thrive in rural settings, Jane brings both lived understanding and scholarly insight to her mahi. Having led allied health services on Te Tai o Poutini West Coast, she now conducts independent research while collaborating with universities across Aotearoa and Australia. Through keynote speaking and direct work with rural health organisations, Jane helps translate research into practical strategies that strengthen workforce sustainability. Her work is grounded in a deep belief that rural communities deserve equitable access to healthcare – not as an afterthought, but as a fundamental right.
